The honey packaging and sales project is part of the City of Orlando Parramore Kidz Zone program's Youth Employment Program which gives students an entrepreneurial start-up business experience and helps find them jobs. The program was launched summer 2017 and has helped to match more than 100 students with jobs to date.
The market and the students are located outside the Orlando City Stadium every Saturday 8am-1pm. This weekly farmers market is part of the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program Grant received by the City. With this grant, the city is working to provide access to quality, fresh and healthy food in the West Orlando neighborhoods that have been deemed as “food deserts.” This program will also help in giving residents the opportunity to start or grow a business by encouraging entrepreneurship.
