Winter Park Library Wants Its Cafe to Draw in Non-Library Folks

By Mark Baratelli
The Executive Director of the Winter Park Public Library, Shawn Shafferas, hopes the cafe on the first floor of the upcoming Winter Park Public Library will be a draw on its own outside of the folks coming to use the library's main resources as first reported by Orange Observer.

Shafferas envisions something akin to New General, a high end minimalist shop and cafe just off Park Ave. She envisions a coffee and tea menu and a New General-esque food menu of toasts and salads: items that do not require much cooking.

The cafe will also contain a bookstore

The goal is to have the library open by 2020. It will be located inside the Martin Luther King Jr. Park at Morse & Harper. Adjaye Associates created the conceptual design. The full cost of the new library will be $30 million dollars.
