History:
Diva Invasion originally started out as a movie night hosted by a Drag Queen in the mid 90's. In 2001, sophomore Cesar Hawas, GLBSU's president, after an inspiring weekend in Key West, saw an opportunity to expand the event to a large-scale production. Its new vision: to expose the UCF community to a little counter-culture, raise funds for the financially weak GLBSU, and create a new tradition on the UCF campus. With a modest production budget of $500, Diva Invasion 2001 was an invaluable hit, filling the Student Union's Cape Florida Ballroom to capacity. The success of the 2001 production was all that the GLBSU needed to bring an even bigger and better production in 2002.

2002 saw a big change for the event as the producers decided to move the production to the Pegasus Grand Ballroom. With a bigger budget and higher hopes, the GLBSU team was able to fill the room and created an even bigger and better buzz about the show that paved the way for the subsequent 2003 and 2004 productions.

In 2005, the event moved to the UCF Arena in an effort to cater to a larger audience, and, while the production steamrolled through the expectations of the event organizers, the intimacy of past productions was greatly missed. As a result, the 2006 production of Diva Invasion was held back in its rightful home – the Pegasus Ballroom.

Diva Invasion's 2007 "Fuel the Fire" once again packed the hall and was accompanied by one of the most impressive line ups to date. The audience was pumped and not disappointed by this visually stunning performance. It also won Best UCF Event of the year!
