Bold Hype gallery/shop is introducing Orlando to Brooklyn's Rafael Santiago in a solo show called "SMOKE N ACES" January 10 - February 28, 2009.
About the show: The show highlights his take on 70's icons, muscle cars, and portraits of "tough guys" like Steve McQueen, Barry Newman, and Charles Bronson. Rafael Santiago works mostly with ink and wax on paper creating a fresh surreal style that could best be described as a psychedelic blend of solemnity and humor.
About the artist: Rafael Santiago grew up in Brooklyn, but has a bunch of relatives in Central Florida. This is his first solo show for the Bold Hype gallery and is curated by Eric Althin.
Opening Reception: The 1970's themed opening reception is on January 10th, 6pm - 11pm. Rafael Santiago will be present to meet with guests and media representatives.
