"Steven Spielberg pockets 2% of the gross receipts from Universal’s theme park in Orlando. That comes out to a cool $30 million every 365 days just for "consulting" on park rides and attractions. The deal has been in place for the past 2 decades and continues "in perpetuity."
The former head of Universal, Sid Sheinberg, says, "When we made the deal I was delighted to make it. I thought at the time it was a sensible deal. I think it is now. I don’t regret it at all," adding, "The deal has been criticized by some who have entered the world later.
