Playwrights Roundtable: submissions being accepted

Writing helps woman deal with emotions

Playwrights Roundtable is now accepting submissions for new 10-minute short plays for their annual "Summer Shorts," slated for July. The call for scripts is March 15th through May 1st, 2009. There is no theme. Comedies, dramas, whatever.

All plays will be read, scored, and ranked, then the top 7 plays will be chosen for production. Winners will be announced by June 1st. Production work will begin shortly thereafter, with performances in July.

Please send all submissions to submissions@playwrightsroundtable.org or to the former prtnewplaysubmissions@hotmail.com.
Rules:
1. Keep the plays short.
2. Cast sizes preferably kept to a minimum (4 or less is a good number).
3. Think minimally -- these are stage plays, not movie sets! Let the focus be the words and action, not how many set pieces you can put onstage.
4. Please put numbers on the pages!
5. Please use common stage play formatting.
6. Electronic file submissions ONLY, please.
7. Please send an e-mail with your name, title of script, number of characters, and any special notes you deem necessary. Please attach your submission to this e-mail. The script will then be sent to the Reading Committee separately, without your name on it, so that the play can be judged anonymously.
8. Please send in MS Word or Works (the DOC format).
9. There is NO CHARGE to submit a play, and you can submit more than one (as long as it's a ten-minute short). However, for any play to receive production, the writer MUST be a member of Playwrights Round Table.
