Steal this idea: Carsharing in Washington DC

P1160137

I saw this sign while walking through Washington DC yesterday and had to share it. Carsharing? Here's what I found online about it:
DDOT is committed to reducing congestion and parking problems with innovative transportation options such as carsharing, a network of privately owned vehicles that are rented by the hour or day. Carsharing provides the mobility of a car without the expense and hassle of car ownership. A low emission and environmentally friendly fleet of cars is located near Metro stations and neighborhood centers throughout DC.

For an annual fee of roughly $25 and for an hourly fee of about $8, residents can obtain the use of a car without the large costs associated with purchase. The hourly charges cover insurance, fuel, maintenance, and the rental rate. Depending on usage, this can be cheaper than owning a car. DDOT is partnering with Zipcar and Flexcar. Carsharing locations and program details are available on these sites.
Yeah ok, in Orlando you need a car, but maybe this will get your head churning about other uses for this idea in Orlando.
