Reflections magazine accepting submissions

"Reflections From Central Florida," a magazine produced by the Orange County Regional History Center, is currently accepting submissions from writers and visual artists. Download their Spring edition and read below to find out how you can submit your work.

(From their website) "Reflections from Central Florida seeks short stories, articles, biographies, autobiographies, and excerpts from novels or plays, with all items pertaining to Central Florida and its history. The target audience is Central Florida history lovers and Members of the Historical Society of Central Florida, Inc.

Length: Limit submission to a maximum of 1,200 words; double space. Format and correspondence: Mail one hard copy of manuscript and an IBM-compatible disk in MS-Word along with SASE to: Editor, Reflections from Central Florida, Orange County Regional History Center, 65 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801, or e-mail reflections@ocfl.net. Illustration/photo formats: All scans must be of original material and must be a minimum of 300 dpi and at least 4"x 6" saved as a grayscale tiff or jpeg file. Only original materials will be accepted for scanning by Reflections staff. Copyrighted materials, such as those from professional photographers or museum collections, must be accompanied by permission to publish and credit line information.

Blind Submissions: Do not put your name on the manuscript. Instead, on a separate sheet, write the following: your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, a 3-sentence bio of yourself, and a headshot (see photo formats above). Upcoming deadlines: June 1, 2008; September 1, 2008; December 1, 2008; March 1, 2009. Reflections will ask only for one-time rights to your submission; however, the piece must not be submitted to any other publication while under our review. Copies of previous issues may be viewed at the History Center's archives.

Requirements and Disclaimers:
Reflections is pleased to accept only original, well-researched, and informative manuscripts, which have been thoroughly proofread and edited. However, if your submission is chosen for publication, the journal's editor reserves the right to edit for style and length. All submissions must not have been previously published. Full citations and a complete bibliography must be included. Submission of manuscript does not guarantee publication in Reflections or any other publication affiliated with the Orange County Regional History Center."
