The Good, The Bad and The Ugly at the Enzian

There aren’t too many films that I would recommend getting out of bed for on a Sunday morning, but Sergio Leone’s The Good The Bad and The Ugly would certainly qualify. If you’ve seen it before, surely you can imagine how amazing it will look on the big screen, as opposed to on DVD. And if you haven’t seen it before, why are you wasting your time reading this? To Netflix with thee!

But really, you should make it to the Enzian on Sunday to catch the film: Leone used pioneering technology for the time to really make the American west look vast, bleak and incredible. Everyone knows Ennio Morricone’s score. And then there’s Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach, crossing the desert looking for hidden Confederate treasure and generally being capital-B Badasses.

Nothing will ease your Saturday night hangover as well as settling into one of the Enzian’s couches, ordering some lunch (they don’t serve spaghetti, alas), and letting the open plains, the tension and the music soak in around you.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly plays at the Enzian this Sunday (8/22) at noon.
