Frames Forever & Art Gallery (941 Orange Avenue, Winter Park, FL) has a cool event going on Saturday, August 21, 2010, 9am-6pm. Huge sale and local celebrity appearance!
This tiny frame shop in the swanky danky district of Winter Park holds great art events and is a strong supporter of the up-and-coming artists in town as well as the already-known. Its owner, Katie Windish, donates her store, her storefront and her back parking lot constantly to local artists for events.
A few events she's held at her shop:Unfortunately, times are *very* hard for the store right now. Rent is hard to come by this month for Windish. So even if you don't need a single frame and couldn't use one ounce of mat board, go buy *something* from the shop this Saturday and show her you want her store (and her support for local artists) to remain in the community.

If that's not enough to get you to come out Saturday, not only is she having a huge sale on frames, mat board, art books, video tapes, DVDs and arts & craft supplies, she's going to have a local celeb in the house! Thomas Thorspecken from the blog Analog Artist Digital World (who also shares his delightful sketches and writings with The Daily City readers once a week!) will have an exhibit of his most recent sketchbooks. Now, these are his *actual* sketchbooks: the ones he takes with him all over Orlando to sketch nearly every event around town. They are seriously a wonder to behold. We know. We had the opportunity to show them off at TheDailyCity.com Mobile Art Show #7 in March 2010.
He will also offer to sketch select patrons portraits for $20 each. Twenty bucks for a Thomas Thorspecken original? You must go to this sale and you must get sketched. And buy something from Katie.
