Kicking off this year’s star-studded basketball weekend in Orlando, seven-time NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning is teaming up
with MetroPCS to make a special two-hour appearance at Stonewall Jackson Middle
School where he will inspire students to do their best in school and stay
physically fit. Mourning also will share how basketball has impacted his life
and later head outside to have fun with the kids, take photos and sign
autographs.
The event is
one stop on MetroPCS’ USA Basketball Dream Tour, which the wireless carrier kicked off earlier this year. The tour, with more than 100 stops, will crisscross
the country bringing some of basketball’s biggest legends to fans, along with a
unique interactive basketball experience.
The Stonewall
Jackson Middle School tour stop coincides with the launch of MetroPCS’ national
partnership with After-School All-Stars (ASAS) and
its local support of the ASAS Orlando Chapter. ASAS provides free daily
after-school programs to help low-income, urban youth succeed in school and in
life. All of the students attending the
Stonewall Jackson Middle School event are participants of After-School
All-Stars.
