On
Saturday, March 10th, the Orlando Philharmonic pays tribute to James Bond,
Austin Powers, Inspector Clouseau and other infamous spies of the cinema with
“Bond and Beyond,” performed at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Bob Carr Performing
Arts Centre, 401 W Livingston Street, Orlando.
”Bond & Beyond” features music from the iconic 007 movies like Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, in addition to the Mission Impossible theme, Concerto for Cell Phone and more. Debbie Gravitte will provide vocals for several James Bond favorites, plus “Secret Agent Man” and “Sooner or Later” from Dick Tracy. Both concerts will be conducted by pops sensation and Orlando resident Michael Krajewski.
Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte has enjoyed a varied career, taking her from the Broadway stage to the concert stage and beyond. She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, along with a Drama Desk Award Nomination and New York Showstopper Award.
Known for his entertaining programs and clever humor, Michael Krajewski is a much sought after conductor of symphonic pops concerts. He is the principal pops conductor of the Houston Symphony, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and the newly named principal pops conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra – the first to hold such a title in Atlanta. He has performed with the Boston Pops, and guest conducted with the San Francisco, Dallas, Baltimore, Detroit, Indianapolis, Phoenix and National symphonies, as well as many other orchestras across the United States.
Bond & Beyond is part of the orchestra’s Super Series. Tickets are $14.75, $29, $39, $52 and $70. Student and group discounts are available. To order, or to learn more about the Philharmonic’s 2011-2012 concert season, call the Philharmonic box office at 407-770-0071, or visit www.orlandophil.org.
