Don't Forget! Hurricane Sandy Passes By Us Today

By Ken Storey

As you head out this morning don't forget that Hurricane Sandy will be passing by Central Florida this afternoon through tomorrow morning.  I mentioned the storm the other day when Orlando Sentinel seemed confused on the name.  Well the confusion has been cleared up and now we are meeting Sandy.

We will only be getting rain and some wind, though lightweight lawn items should be cleaned up.  And those old oak branches always seem to come down in these types of storms so just be carefulThe only local school district that will be closed today is Brevard, though Volusia (the other beach county) has cancelled all field trips and after school activities. No major closures are area attractions, rip tides have closed the beach to swimmers though and taller rides are some of the area fairs this weekend may close this evening.

For us in Central Florida away from the beaches we just need to be aware of the rain and just a little wind.  Tonight switch an indoor event or at least wear rain friendly clothing.  Sandy should be past us by mid day of tomorrow.
