| Look for the Chicken! |
One of the things that makes any region unique is the local businesses that the area may have, these businesses over time become more than just a simple business and instead become a local landmark and a permanent part of the local consciences. One of those types of businesses here in Central Florida is Lukas Nursery. This weekend the nursery is celebrating it's 100th Anniversary. Festivities include free hay rides, face painting, food trucks, and discounts on purchases. Lukas is known for their Butterfly and Bird Encounter (Admission if $5 per guest). The attraction allows visitors to personally meet an Ovideo chicken, along with a large finch population and a 4,000 conservatory making it one of the largest butterfly conservatories in the southeast.
The nursery itself is also designed in such fashion that it feels more attraction than neighborhood nursery. This time of year the nursery also features many seasonal beds and displays. Lukas also features a large gift shop filled with unique garden, butterfly, and Florida themed items, including live caterpillars, chrysalises and cocoons.
This weekend ma just be the perfect time to stop by this local landmark and in the process you may even find just the thing to improve your yard. Lukas Nursery is located at 1909 Slavia Road Oviedo, FL 32765. The easiest way to spot Lukas is by keeping an eye out for the largest chicken in all of Ovideo, the large chicken statues near the main entrance is kind of hard to miss.
