Winter Park Goes Full On Halloween This Saturday with Four Different Events

By Ken Storey

This weekend Winter Park looks to be the place to be for Halloween events.

At 7AM the St. Margaret Mary's will sponsor the Halloween 5K fun walk/run for Haiti ($20 adults, $15 students, $10 under 12yr w/ adult).  This is the third year of the walk/run.  Proceeds from the 5K go to the church's Haiti relif plans.  Also on October 27th is the Keeping Haiti in Our Hearts: Interpreting Heritage in the Diaspora at Crealdé School of Art.  The exhibition acts as a forum on Haitian-American heritage and culture aimed at addressing intergenerational gaps in the cultural experience which have occurred between Haitians and Haitian-Americans.

Then at 10AM not one but three different Halloween/fall events happening in the city and all three are free.

Park Ave is hosting it's annual trick or treat event.  Children are encouraged to wear their costumes as they trick or treat along the avenue to each of the participating merchants.

On the other side of town Winter Park Village will also be hosting it's annual Pumpkin Bash event.  Radio Disney will be there as will many vendors.  Activities include a Halloween costume contest, Publix cupcake decorating, a pumpkin pick, and a balloon artist.

Both activites wrap up at 1PM.

Also beginning at 10AM is the Winter Park YMCA Family Fall Festival.  It too will feature a costume contest, treats, along with IdentiKID, bounce houses, and games.  The festival will take place at the Cady Way Pool area on the east side of Winter Park.  The event runs till 2PM.
