- A pop up dinner, art show and music performance highlight the inaugural year of TheDailyCity.com Cardboard Art Festival! Seven artists have filled a large modern warehouse space with cardboard art hanging from the ceiling, stuck to the walls and free-standing on the ground. Over the course of three evenings, fun events are planned in the space.
Friday January 25
- 6pm - 12am
- Opening night party, $5 admission (pay at the door only, cash only). Opening reception with music and dancing with DJ Nigel and tons of cardboard sculptures filling up the space created by Evan Miga, Jessica Earley, Brendan O'Connor, Christie Miga, Adriaan Mol, Doug Rhodehamel, Nathan Selikoff. Wine and beer by donation.
Saturday January 26
- 7:30pm - 11pm
- The pop-up dinner "ClandesDine Orlando" $75 admission. Limited seating to 50 guests. Pre-pay online at this link. Enjoy a 5-course pop-up dinner by Chef Bryce Balluff taking place inside the exhibit. Menu revealed that evening only. Musical performances by Orlando Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Sunday January 27
- 10am-11:30am for kids 7 and under
- 12pm-1:00pm for kids 8 and above
- Kids Matinee Sponsored and hosted by Kids Fringe and Mennello Museum of American Art $1 admission. Kids only! Attendees will get to (1) use cardboard to build and decorate their very own mask, hat, or wings, (2) meet the famed Dog Powered Robot and (3) get a chance to tour the entire exhibit with cardboard sculptures made by master artists Brendan O'Connor, Doug Rhodehamel, Evan Miga, Jessica Earley, Christie Miga, Adriaan Mol, Nathan Selikoff.

- Dog Powered Robot + Andy Matchett & the Minks, $5 admission (pay at the door, cash only), wine and beer by donation. Dog Powered Robot is a fantastic group of cardboard robots defending the world against evil via a robot powered by a pomeranian. Andy Matchett & the Minks is a very popular and fun musical group.

- Mark Baratelli was named by Orlando Business Journal as a "40 Under 40" for 2012. The Orlando Weekly said "If everyone in Orlando who claims to care about the arts had 1 percent of Baratelli’s energy and commitment, this city would be a world culture capital." That same newspaper named him "Best Local Advocate" for 2012 and 2011 as well as "Best Arts Advocate" for 2010. He is responsible for TheDailyCity.com website, The Food Truck Bazaar, TheDailyCity.com Night Market, Mobile Art Show, Orlando Improv Festival, and the Audience Choice Awards (at the Orlando Fringe Festival).
Curators
- Doug Rhodehamel | Doug Rhodehamel was raised in Dayton, Ohio and is therefore a Buckeye. In 1993, he moved to Orlando which he now calls home. Rhodehamel primarily works as an installation artist using repurposed and surplus materials and is the one responsible for all the paper bag mushrooms all over the place. He has recently begun to work with his new favorite material, discarded cardboard, or "discardboard" as he likes to call it.
- Brendan O'Connor | Brendan is an import from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada and a graduate of Rollins College where he focused on Environmental and Growth Management Studies. He has a quilt-like resume comprised of event/festival planning, puppet construction/performance and instruction, illustration work, landscape architecture, and public art instillations. He is the founder of The SIT Project which places artistically up-cycled chairs at bus stops that have no seating in the Orlando area which has received National attention. As well as working for ArtReach Orlando as the Social Justice Art Project Manager, Brendan is also freelance artist and writer, the owner of a small business, and the Community Engagement Coordinator for Keep Winter Park Beautiful and the City of Winter Park.
Chef
- Chef Bryce Balluff, hailing from the French Culinary Institute and working in some of the finest kitchens from New York to south Florida, brings a special reverence for ingredients and a passion for perfection. Training at Michelin stared Per Se, Asia De Cuba, Barbuto, and locally working as the private dining chef at Luma on park and the chef de cuisine at Puff'n Stuff Catering manned the helm of the kitchens of The Funky Monkey Wine Company and Draft Global Beer Lounge & Grill. Chef Bryce brings over a decade of artistic passion, finesse, and culinary expertise to Fork In The Road
The Artists
- Adriaan Mol | Adriaan Mol was born in Detroit, grew up in Florida as one of many transplants in Florida's space coast. He attended a local college with an art scholarship and later dropped out to tour with his band. They eventually moved to Williamsburg Brooklyn where he resumed art studies vicariously through friends getting their MFA and the overwhelming abundance of street art. Adriaan now lives in Orlando, Fl and has most recently been involved in local shows as well as group shows in cities such as Cost Mesa, CA, Long Island, NY and Cleveland, OH. Influenced by lowbrow art, abstract highbrow installations and music, Adriaan Mol’s artwork comments on pop culture past and present, as well as our relationship with musical icons.

- Nathan Selikoff | Nathan Selikoff’s award-winning artwork has been exhibited in galleries and venues throughout the United States and around the world, including Art Basel in Switzerland; Bridges Conferences in Portugal, Hungary, Canada and the Netherlands; the Maitland Art Center in Florida; AXIOM Gallery in Boston; the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art; the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in California; and SIGGRAPH Art Galleries in various US cities. Recently, he has participated in contemporary site-specific projects around Orlando, Florida, installing sculptures made from recycled cardboard inspired by some of his digital works. He has also been collaborating with composers and musicians, creating and performing live projected visuals for new music concerts. In 2011 he had his first solo and two-person exhibitions in Central and South Florida. In 2008 Nathan participated in a three week residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, studying under master artist John F. Simon, Jr.

- Evan Miga | Evan earned his B.F.A. in Graphic Design from The Savannah College of Art and Design. He started his professional career in Atlanta working for Radical Axis. There Evan worked on shows such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost, Squid Billies and Perfect Hair Forever Go, all airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. It was here that Evan found his love for motion graphics and illustration. In 2005, Evan accepted an offer at the design agency Ryan & Deslauriers, moving him from Atlanta to Orlando. At this firm Evan was responsible for developing brand standards and design for companies such as St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, Westin and Hard Rock. This job offered him a chance to travel to different countries and states to develop branding and design along side clients. In 2008, Evan left the firm and began his greatest venture as the owner of Miga Me, a creative company. Evan works with a range of clients across the United States and abroad. In 2010, through Miga Me, Evan created Dog Powered Robot, a silly, low tech / high tech and creative show featuring loads of cardboard, a puppy and a touch of invention. This show had a 3 year run at the Fringe Festival and has been a favorite every year. As creator and creative director of Dog Powered Robot, Evan is able to brand, invent, design, market, film, write, build, collaborate and produce all while entertaining people.
- Christie Miga | Atlanta born artist, Christie Miga, studied at Savannah College of Art and Design, Valencia Community College and UCF. Her art has been seen throughout Orlando in various shops, boutiques, restaurants and galleries including the Orlando Museum of Art. She has been seen creating her paintings live at Blank Space Art Lounge, The Cameo Theater, on the cover of the 2011 United Arts Annual Report and at the Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival. In addition, Christie has sold art work both nationally and internationally in the cities of Paris, France, Johannesburg, South Africa, Brooklyn, New York, L.A., California to name a few. Christie’s style is free flow abstract expressionism. She mixes and experiments with her own paints as well as incorporates different textures, sheens and found objects. Her work is created on the floor by pouring, tilting and shaking the canvas until the compositions are balanced and harmonious. She has excelled at this technique and is now utilizing it to explore deeper themes and emotions. Her involvement in the arts has also included spending five years as a Fringe artist, beginning in the Visual Fringe then moving to performances. In 2011, she was chosen to create a special 20th anniversary work of art for the Fringe. Additionally, she is the Production Manager and Producer for Dog Powered Robot. 2011 also marked Christie's completion of her largest work to date: a 55 foot interactive mural for local internet company, Mojo Interactive.
- Bobby Barnett (aka. banjo bob) | UF Media Design BFA 03 Raised in Saint Cloud, FL. Currently washes dishes and bakes cookies at the Drunken Monkey coffee shop in downtown Orlando. Recently taught "Recycled Art Enrichment: Castles and Dragons" at Misty Forrest Center. Facebook: "banjo bob (art)". The vast majority of his cardboard sculpture work between 2005 and today, portrays popular fossils with and without skin. The medium, cardboard box, forces a grafting of lazy cubist abstractions onto his trademark paleontological mimicry. His collections of acrylic paintings take advantage of folk-painterly themes and techniques to lure the beholder into a range of enigmatic imaginary scenarios. Warmly invoking a sub-universe of juxtapositions and anthropomorphizations, populated with chatty milk cows, sword-wielding kittens, mole people and FEMA camps. Other pieces on display locally include pieces from his earlier series, "Banjo Bob's Guide to Wild Animals in the City."
- Jessica Earley | Jessica creates using a variety of mediums. Including music, animation, painting, paper & yarn craft, video, photography and performance.Though most often she uses these mediums individually, it is her goal to work toward combining and harmonizing them for a richer, fuller end result. It is important to her as an artist to reach people on an emotional level. When people feel they can connect or relate to an idea or emotion she is outputting creatively, she feels she has succeeded. Her work focuses a lot on the inner dialogue of women, but overall she is highly interested in the inner dialogue of all people. In Orlando, Jessica has participated in several performances and group art shows and has exhibited her work in two solo shows. Some of the venues she's shown at include Orlando Puppet Festival, ArtsFest, 1st Thursdays at Orlando Museum of Art, City Arts Factory and The Falcon. She also was a recipient of the 2012 United Arts Artist Development Grant.
