Crealde Presents 13th Southeastern Photography Invitational: A Sense of Place

Abandoned Citgo Station by Richard McCabe

Crealde School of Art has a rich history of bringing spectacular art to Central Florida.  The 13th Southeastern Photography Invitational: A Sense of Place continues this tradition with the works of three photographers from the Southeast.

“Each photographer has a very different approach to recording the world around them." Rick Lang, Photography Department Director and exhibit curator, continues "Their photographs of places are as much autobiographical as they are visual documents of their environment.”

An opening reception will take place on March 15th from 7pm till 9pm at Crealde's Alice and William Jenkins Gallery on their main campus.  The following day two of the artists, Richard McCabe and Beth Reynolds, will be hosting photography workshops.

About the artists:

"Richard McCabe: Curator of Photography at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA., showing work from his series “Lost Highways” which are social landscapes of the Southeastern United States. His works are color photographs made with a Holga camera.

Her work deals with a series of still life photos taken in her mother's home in St. Petersburg after her mother's passing. The photographs include a collection of personal objects that form a fascinating portrait of Beth's mother's life.

Frank Dienst: Photographer from Mims, Florida. His work is a selection of Bromoil prints of images from his book “Station Door.” Frank is well known for his photographs using a number of traditional and historical processes. He is also the author of the award winning book, “Wetland Voices.”
