Beast Fest Benefit Raises Money for Karyna Santana and Bike Awareness For All

On Sunday, February 3, 2013 local artisan and musician Karyna Santana was hit while riding her bike home after a shift at her job. The local emerging 34 year old musician was also an artist who designed cloth wallets and her own fabric. She has undergone surgery and requires a long, extensive recovery.

To help with long and expensive road ahead a special 24 hour long benefit named Beast Fest will be hosted at Austin's Coffee on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 10a till Sunday February 24. The 24 hours will be filled a number of different things including DIY Bicycle Awareness T-Shirt Stenciling station, a poetry vending machine, raffles, local artists and vendors. The number of bands performing at the event does continue to grow as many groups are wanting to be a part of the help that Karyna so desperately needs.

The list of bands does already include The Plush Monsters, Zap Dragon & The Attack, Trailer Park Refugees, Afeefa & The Boy, and Lauren Carder.

While there is a push to halve the record number of pedestrian accidents that occur in Orlando each year I would also recommend each of us take a few minutes to review bike safety and make sure to keep in mind that we do share the road with many people using multiple forms of transportation.
