Disney Springs to Build Its Version of the High Line From New York City

Disney Springs, the new concept and name for Downtown Disney, is now out of the bag. We told you about the way it's co-opting high-end shopping and food trucks, but now it appears it's taking a design cue from the High Line in New York City.

The High Line is an abandoned elevated subway line reaching into the Meatpacking District that was recently revitalized into an urban park. The joy of the High Line is that it's a park smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle of NYC, but because it's elevated, it allows you to escape all that, as well as give you a view from above. This let's you see the streets, shops, walkers and cars differently.

Disney Springs will incorporate an abandoned elevated train track, allowing people the same experience.
