On Thursday, March 21 from 5:30 to 7:30, Ivanhoe Village Main Street will present its bi-monthly business mixer, hosted by Hugh Martin Home on N. Orange Ave. The event gives people the opportunity to mix and mingle with business owners and residents of the Ivanhoe area, and get better acquainted with an area business.
Hugh Martin Home opened recently in Ivanhoe Village, having started originally in New Orleans. The home decor store has furnishings, gifts, lighting, and accessories that are new, vintage or the rare “I saw it first” type item. A one-of-kind hanging lamp made of vintage yardsticks, for example, or a mirror wreathed in pages from a 1955 atlas. The store is located at 1909 N. Orange Ave., next door to Savoy Orlando and a couple of doors down from the newly opened Wolfie's Pizzamia.
Each Ivanhoe After Hours has some sort of “learn” aspect to it and that element will be provided by Gene Columbus at this gathering. Gene is the Executive Director of Orlando Repertory Theatre, a job he “retired into” after 38 years with Walt Disney Company, and he’ll present on Quality Customer Service. An in-demand speaker, Gene recently delivered a similar presentation in Scotland.
Hugh Martin Home will provide lite hors d’oeuvres and IVMS will provide a pay-by-donation beer and wine bar. Each attendee will be entered into a chance drawing, with opportunity to purchase additional chances to win. Prizes include a copy of "Locavesting" by Amy Cortese, one month free yoga to Jacob Dickson Personal Fitness, and a basket of Fringe goodies from Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival.
For more information, visit the Facebook event page, Ivanhoe Village, or call 407.203.2826.
