I stopped by the SkyHouse Orlando construction site recently to check in on the progress of what is currently the largest construction site in downtown Orlando. It looks to be topping out now, which will mean that the crane will likely be dismantled sometime over the next few months. Construction will shift to focus on the interior soon. SkyHouse is the first major tower to rise in Orlando since the recession.
The $63 million, 23-story tower will feature 320 residences in a mix of studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom suites along with 7,245 sq ft retail. A separate 8-story, 471 space parking structure with 987 sq ft of retail on the eastern edge of the property has yet to begin construction but the ground is beginning to be prepped for this next structure. The final major section of the property, a pocket park featured on the northern most tip of the property along with a small private dog walk on the southern edge of the property, will likely be the last to be developed, though they must be finished before the Certificate of Occupancy for the building will be issued. Leasing at the new development should begin by end of 2013.
