By Ken Storey

The 3rd Annual Car Masters Weekend is June 15-16, 2013 at Downtown Disney West Side.  The car show features both classic cars and modern ones.  This year there will also be a special area with Disney•Pixar ‘Cars’ characters Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile.  Also this year automotive designer Chip Foose, who consulted for ‘Cars,’ and Disney•Pixar ‘Cars’ filmmaker Jay Ward will host celebrity chat shows on the Car Masters Stage.

Also on the agenda for the weekend at the event is the debut of a special street performance by La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil artists.  Nintendo Wii U Tour will be there where you can play the upcoming Disney Infinity video game and new interactive activities based on future Disney film releases “Monsters University,” “The Lone Ranger,” and “Planes.”  The Nintendo Wii U Tour is actually staying at Downtown Disney through June 22, 2013.

Chevrolet will have a booth with their latest models.  The Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney Speedway will also be on hand showing off their race cars.  RideMakerz will have remote control cars that you can test drive.  Live music from DJs and singers are scheduled throughout the two day event.  An all-day “Cars” and “Cars 2” movie marathon is planned for the AMC Downtown Disney 24 during the event also.

Splitsville will be getting in on the action with the 1st Annual Car Masters Weekend Sock Hop on Saturday 6-9pm.  For $69 per person you can enjoy a buffet featuring many of Splitsville’s popular dishes, a limited bar, raffle prizes, bowling competitions, and live entertainment.  Chip Foose and Jay Ward will also be stopping by the party for a special appearance.

The main focus of the weekend though is, of course, the cars and this will be an impressive car show with over 150 classic, muscle, and exotic car will be on display for the event, many from right here in Central Florida.
