Awesome Grant Foundation: Ignore the Name, Get the Cash

Get a $1,000 grant to make your city better by filling out the one-page form and (fingers crossed) being selected. Each month the ten citizens who comprise the trustees of the Orlando Chapter of the “Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences and the advancement of Awesomeness in the Universe” (um, okay) will meet to decide on a project to which they can provide a no-strings-attached investment. The Orlando Chapter joins 72 chapters in 12 countries that have funded 543 projects with $543,000 in the four years since the idea first took root in Boston.

The trustees each contribute $100 each month combining their contributions in order to have $1,000 available for projects that will “conserve, sustain, and support the worldwide ecosystem of awesomeness.” Projects around the world have included efforts in a wide range of ideas including technology, arts, social good and beyond.

Those wanting more information locally can contact the Dean of the Orlando Chapter of the Awesome Foundation, Terry Olson, at 407-836-5540 or Terry.Olson@ocfl.net.
