California Grill Reveals Details of Their New Beverage Program: 1,600 bottle display case, 248 on wine list, 10 sakes, 20+ sommeliers

California Grill, which is currently closed for a massive remodel, gave details of its new beverage program to Disney Parks Blog recently.  The restaurant is a popular one with Disney fans for its unique location on the top of the Contemporary, providing a perfect view for the Magic Kingdom fireworks.  The new menu will debut when the restaurant re-opens later this summer. Here are some of the highlights of the new beverage program at the iconic restaurant:
  • Heitz Cellars is bottling magnums of chardonnay exclusively for California Grill.  The magnums will a part of the club service that has the magnums being brought tableside for each wine glass pouring.
  • A new 1,600 bottle, climate-controlled display case is being built at the restaurant. 
  • The wine list will feature 180 wines from California, 55 Old World wines, and 13 New World wines.
  • 80 wines by the glass, an increase of 30 from the previous menu.
  • More than 20 sommeliers will be on staff
  • An expanded sake program to complement the expanded sushi menu.  10 varieties of sake spanning the spectrum from sparkling to “cask strength.”
  • 8 craft brews, mostly from California
  • Some of the new wines featured include a 1st-growth Bordeaux, a boutique wine from Oregon, and another boutique wine from South Africa.
