Gibb the Manatee Gets Back To His Manatee Ways Thanks To A Little Help From SeaWorld Orlando

By Ken Storey

Gibb the Manatee was released back into the wild near Boca Grande, Florida on June 13, 2013 by SeaWorld Orlando’s animal rescue team.   Gibb was rescued back in October, 2012 from one of the worst red tide blooms in over a decade.  He was originally rescued by a team from Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo and was transferred to SeaWorld Orlando’s wildlife rehabilitation center.  Six more manatees at the rehab center are scheduled for release over the next month.  This comes on top of one that was released earlier this year.  SeaWorld Orlando has rescued two other manatees this year.
