Is CityWalk's Latin Quarter, NBA City Shutting Down?

Local nightlife blog Save Pleasure Island is reporting that CityWalk’s Latin Quarter is shutting down this coming August to make way for a new Mexican-themed restaurant known as Don Quixote’s. (It won’t have any relation to the always yummy Don Quixote’s in Fernandina Beach.)Save Pleasure Island reports that Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse which is located on the second floor of Latin Quarter will also close. That restaurant opened to much fanfare from Universal a mere two years ago. There is no word on if the new Mexican restaurant will feature a nightclub aspect like what Latin Quarter currently has.

In other CityWalk rumor news there is a rumor that the NBA City at CityWalk will shut down this fall to make way for the WWE Hall of Fame. This rumor has been around awhile but has been popping up more lately since WWE’s training facility at Full Sail University was announced earlier this year.

If the Hall of Fame is coming to Orlando it likely would open in 2015. Orlando is in the running for 2015’s WrestleMania 31 and most expect that if Orlando does get the Hall of Fame it would open in conjunction with events leading up to WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 24 was held at the Citrus Bowl in 2008 with many of the events surrounding it being held at Universal Studios.

Representatives from NBA City at Universal’s CityWalk defaulted on a lease for a new restaurant on the bottom floor of the Amway in January. That default has led many to speculate about the future of the NBA City at CityWalk as well.
