Legoland Florida Releases New Images of World of Chima

Legoland Florida’s World of Chima (pronounced Chee-mah) readies for its grand opening on July 3, 2013. Recently the theme park’s youth panel, Buddy’s Brick Bunch, helped christen the central ride of the new land. The christening event gave the first official images of the Quest for Chi ride vehicles.

The ride will take 8 riders per boat through an indoor and outdoor track that features a number of different ‘habitats’ including Rhino Quarry, Raven’s Roost, Eagle’s Nest, Wolves Encampment, Gorilla Forest and Crocodile Swamp. Guests will use water cannons throughout the interactive ride.

The Quest for CHI will be one of three new attractions at Legoland Florida when The World of Chima opens. The land will also feature Cragger’s Swamp, a play and splash area along with the Speedorz Arena where guests can race handheld ripcord vehicles. A meet-and-greet area will feature Laval the Lion Prince and Cragger the Crocodile King.

A 4D movie based on the World of Chima opened earlier this year at the park .

The World of Chima is based on LEGO’s new product line, LEGO Legends of Chima. Cartoon Network debuted the Legends of Chima cartoon series based on the new brand in January, 2013.

“This is the first time a theme park has invested in a major expansion concurrently with the rollout of a new brand and product line, and it was an easy decision based on how well LEGO Legends of Chima has been received by children and those who are young at heart around the world,” said LEGOLAND Florida General Manager Adrian Jones. “This is also a reflection of the overall success of the park, which has already enabled us to open a new Water Park and build multiple new attractions during the past 18 months.”

Along with christening the central ride of the new land the Buddy’s Brick Bunch were given a hands-on construction site tour, even assisting construction workers by spraying concrete on the entrance structure helping give shape to the engineered stone gateway and paining some of the stone-look surface.

Buddy’s Brick Bunch is a yearlong youth panel that allows six area youth to serve as ambassadors for Legoland Florida. The first ever ‘bunch’ was announced earlier in June after six lucky youth were selected from over 400 applicants.
