Southern Living Tells Its Readers To "Pull Off International Drive and Skip The Chain Restaurants"

By Ken Storey

Remember back in February, 2013 we told about an Associate Editor from Southern Living going shopping with us around Orlando?  Well she recently posted a great little article in both the print edition and on their website The Daily South (what a great name! Don't get confused with another great website Daily in the name.).  The article tells of the non-'Mouse' side of Orlando and encourages readers to leave I-Drive for the great new options that Orlando now has.

"...there’s an entire other world outside the roller coasters and character breakfasts, one with a rich, emerging food culture, boutique shopping, and natural beauty. Central Florida is a cultural hot spot (yes, you read that correctly)—you just need to know where to look. So on that next trip, why not pull off International Drive and skip the chain restaurants? The new Orlando has much more to offer."

Local hotspots such as The Courtesy, Redlight Redlight, Prato and the yet to open East End Market all make the list as does Lake Eola Park.

It's always good to see the 'other' Orlando getting some national attention. Hopefully The Daily South and Southern Living pull some more stories of Orlando from our day with them.

Check out the whole list, you never know, there might even be a few places on it you don't even know about.
