Homeless Students Helped in Fern Creek Fundraiser November 6th

The Fern Creek Bulldog Benefit is an annual event featuring food from Mills50 restaurants, entertainment and a silent auction taking place Thursday November 6th. Tickets are $25 and available online. All proceeds to go the The Fern Creek Foundation which provides weekend snack packs, socks, underwear, winter coats, a food pantry, clothing closet, and mentoring programs for the students at Fern Creek Elementary. 

Why this school in particular? 

• More than half of the students are bused in from the Coalition for the Homeless in Downtown Orlando and Parramore, one of Orlando’s poorest neighborhoods. 
• More than 94 percent of Fern Creek students qualify for the nationally funded School Lunch Program, which provides meal assistance to children who live near or below the poverty level. 
• For their lowest-income students, the school day is where guaranteed meals start and end.
• Many go home and spend the night or weekend hungry.
