TEDxOrlando 2015 Conference September 12

TEDxOrlando (Web | Facebook), a regionally hosted, independently organized event licensed by TED, will be held September 12, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, Fla. With an exciting roster of experts and innovators, TEDxOrlando strives to engage the 300 expected attendees in a conversation about the topic of “Envisioning Tomorrow.”

Tickets are $90.

The conference will feature short talks presented in TED's fabled storytelling format, by local and national, emerging and established, thought leaders and innovators. In addition, an online content archive will be created, making the talks available nationally and globally. Several videos of talks from past TEDxOrlando events have now been viewed online more than 40,000 times; in aggregate, TEDxOrlando videos have received over 200,000 views.

“We’re so excited about the speakers at this year’s conference,” said TEDxOrlando organizer Jenny Casey. “It’s a fascinating group of presenters with anticipated topics ranging from medicine, to inspirational social initiatives for youth, to art and technology, to Florida's unique waterways.”

At this year's TEDxOrlando, seven speakers will present "ideas worth spreading." They include:
  • Bill Belleville: Writer and Documentary Filmmaker
  • Lori Daiello: Pharmacology Sleuth
  • Andrea Eliscu: Concerned Citizen
  • Max Jackson: Neural Data Analyst and Science Communicator
  • Amy Cameron O'Rourke: Gerontologist and Entrepreneur
  • Nathan Selikoff: Artist, Programmer, and Entrepreneur
  • Kyle Christian Steele: Educational Visionary and Entrepreneur
TEDxOrlando will be held at the Garden Theatre, located in Winter Garden, just 14 miles from downtown Orlando and with plenty of free, easy parking.

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and charm of the historic building and experience state-of-the-art projection and sound technology. Tickets for the event are $90 and available online at tedxorlando.com.

TEDxOrlando's audience is well educated and made up of people who work in leadership positions in business, the arts, the sciences, or in technical fields. Many are entrepreneurs. In addition to the talks, there will shared food and generous breaks. Most speakers are present for the entire day and available for one-on-one interaction.

"Our hope is that, through TEDxOrlando, we raise the profile of Orlando as a city where ideas come to life and where innovation is happening every day,” added Casey. “We design the event to promote connections among all attendees and speakers. Ultimately, we want attendees to come up with and realize their own great ideas."
