Florida Department of Transportation will be funding the purchase of 23 closed circuit TV cameras. The city says this will improve their "ability to monitor and manage traffic at key City intersections."
Will the cameras record? The City of Orlando says yes, but only to record auto and pedestrian traffic.
In February 2015, "Florida Department of Transportation spokesman Steve Olson said more than 440 closed-circuit cameras are online 24/7 ," according to Click Orlando.
Will the cameras record? The City of Orlando says yes, but only to record auto and pedestrian traffic.
"(City of Orlando) will record the video on very rare occasions. Those will be occasions where we need to count and classify vehicles and pedestrians. For more than 99% of the time, the cameras will be used for live surveillance of traffic conditions by staff in the the City's Traffic Management Center or Event Management Center."
