New Gallobbery Coming to Mills Park

(EDIT 2:40pm 1/6/15)

A new gallobbery (art gallery inside a lobby) will be christened soon in the Mills50 District.

The Gallery at Mills Park apartments (Website) at 1650 N. Mills Ave. has engaged a group called "Art Gallery At Mills Park (Facebook)" to hang art on the walls of its lobby.

The apartment building is inside the Mills Park shopping center.

Boris Douglas Garbe is Curator and Lael DeWahl is Director and Co-Founder.

The group gives hours as Thursday through Saturday 6-9pm or by appointment (407-766-7353, Lael.DeWahl@gmail.com). However, it's the lobby of an apartment building and those hours are 9am-6pm Monday thru Friday, 10am-5pm Saturdays.

There will be an opening night champagne reception Friday, January 29 6-8pm with Paul Scarborough and Martha Lent works hung throughout. That collection will be hung January 29 through March 13.

DeWahl wants a gender-balanced approach to the running of the gallery and "intends to demonstrate that the works of women can be just as successfully exhibited and sold as those of men."

Garbe is excited to be able to show works in a "relaxing, contemporary environment.”

***Our new term to describe the partnership between a gallery and a hotel/apartment/condo/other lobby
