Vita Luna Won't Give you a Cup Dammit!!!

Vita Luna (Facebook) is a coffee shop within the new-ish The District on Mills. I blog there frequently. They have an interesting ethos I think is worth sharing, so here it is.

Why don’t you have paper or plastic to-go cups?
There are 3 primary reasons: A. Environmental sustainability, using only glass and ceramic to serve reduces our carbon footprint immensely. almost all of our other products are bio degradable and sent off to a farm compost. B. Quality, drinking out of a mug or mason jar not only tastes better but feels better. The coffees flavor is affected when its poured into a paper or plastic cup, And there is just something about holding a hot mug that just makes you feel at home. C. Lets slow down, I want to get to know every one of our customers; lets create community together and just sit and be for a moment rather than rushing through life, sit and enjoy the product we created for you; its good, I promise.

Name your price?
So we are not a non-profit, our idea creating this shop was to make it accessible to everyone. Everyone should have an equal chance at a good cup of coffee. No matter what your job, or status in life, we want you to enjoy something of quality. Those that can help others can help those who cant help themselves. We have a suggested price range of $3-$5 and people who can, tend to always pay it forward. Being able to have several people come to my bar and tell me they would really like to try it but don’t have any money, light up my day; because at this point I can share with them our vision for good coffee for everyone. These people have existed, and every time it brings a light to their day; that is why.

Homemade Almond and Coconut milks!?
Quality matters and what you put in your body is important. Our almond and coconut milks are 100% organic almonds and coconut flakes that we blend in water and that is it, no preservatives, no sugars, no flavors, no garbage. Yes, it is really easy to do and we encourage you try to make it at home!

Cold Brew? Nitro?
Our cold brew is a small batch method, we brew it at a ratio similar to a brewed cup of coffee, meaning we don’t dilute it after we brew it for 18 hours. We then infuse it with Nitro gas, that is similar to Nitro beer gas; and serve over ice. It adds small bubbles which help open up the flavor of the coffee and give you a well balanced cup!
What’s a rotating menu?
Our coffees and teas are all sourced from different Florida roasters and tea blenders. Every month we change all of our roasters to keep things fresh, new, and interesting. We use only single origin beans so you know exactly where your coffee is coming from and your barista can help walk you through the profile of the coffees. We chose each bean for its best brewing method and stick to it, to always bring you the best possible cup. We do not sell the beans by the bag but can help you with ordering a coffee you may really enjoy.
No espresso bar?
Good things take time, our idea for an espresso bar will be one that is completely different here is Orlando. Currently we are focusing on our brewed coffee to begin to showcase what we can do. The more support we can get here will allow us to develop this program faster. Come by the shop and try what we are all about and see for yourself.
