In July, 2009, UCP of Central Florida (3305 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32806) will open a new 35,000 square foot facility in Central Florida Research Park (adjacent to UCF). The campus will house a PreK – 3rd Grade Charter School that will focus on integrating arts and technology for children with and without special needs. At full capacity, the enrollment will be approximately 325 students.
The UCP East Orange/Bailes Charter School will integrate arts (visual, music, drama and dance) throughout the core curriculum – thinking and using these disciplines in daily activities (not just in discrete elective classes). All types of arts (visual, music, drama and dance) will be used to help teach lessons as well as demonstrate knowledge. We also anticipate being a research site – to test best and promising practices.
UCP is seeking community partners to assist us to build the capacity to implement and sustain this program of arts education in an inclusive environment. We have some funds designated to campus based programs and also anticipate having private pay options for after school participants. If you are interested in becoming a partner for this project – please complete and return the RFP prior to June 1, 2009. Please contact Ilene Wilkins at iwilkins@ucpcfl.org with any questions.
