A summer of unique art-making experiences are offered at the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) camps from June 11th through August 17th, 2012. Each week focuses on a different theme and art topic. These popular programs are built for students grades 1 through 9, nourishing both serious art students and beginnners.
First - Second Grade: These programs are designed to expose students to a broad range of ideas and art-making experiences through theme-based classes. Students will create headdresses fit for a Pharaoh in "Strut with Tut" or learn how to mold clay in "Artes Mexicano". Ten 9am-2pm or 9am-4pm weeklong sessions are available.
Third - Fifth Grade:These programs are designed to strengthen technical skills through medium-specific experiences. Camp goers will make unique masks out of clay in "Masks Making" or spend a week exploring the world through art in "Art Around the World". The classes emphasize developing observation skills and an ability to think independently. Ten full-day or half-day weeklong sessions are available.
Sixth - Ninth Grade: Middle school camp goers will expose them to a variety of topics and art media. Participants can design cool patterns in "Linoleum Block Printing" or plaster sculptures through casting, wrapping and craving techniques in "Plaster Sculpture". The emphasis is on strengthening technical skills and on opportunities for personal exploration. Ten full-day or half-day weeklong sessions are available.
Camp prices range from $80 to $220 per week, per student. Either multi-family or multi-week discounts are available for camp goers. Art camp pre-registration is required and can be completed via mail, phone, fax, or in person.
