At today’s city council meeting, newly-formed nonprofit Orlando Tech (Website | Facebook | Twitter) was approved as the City of Orlando’s first E-Street, a designation through the City’s successful Main Street program. As an E-Street, Orlando Tech will receive annual funding from the City and will hire a full-time executive director.
“Orlando Tech, Inc. will participate in the E-Street Program as a virtual community district with the objective to make Orlando a city where tech companies choose to locate and the digital workforce thrives,” read today’s city council agenda summary.
At last month’s State of the City address Mayor Dyer announced that Orlando Tech would become the City’s digital main street. Since then, the organization has created executive and advisory boards composed of individuals with a wide range of tech experience and areas of expertise.

In the coming months, Orlando Tech will work to expand operations through membership outreach, program development and coordination, and community partnerships.
