Sunrail Is Now a Mobile Art Gallery Thanks to New Window Installations

"Art is Moving," a privately funded art installation, has been installed on Sunrail train 3005. Art from all the counties Sunrail passes through has been printed onto perforated vinyl and displayed on the outside of the first, second and third levels of the train car.

The inaugural trip will be train P319 (1 p.m. southbound out of DeBary) on Thursday, March 16. It will also operate as the P320, P323, P324, P333 and P334. It is also expected to run the same schedule on Friday.

The kick-off of the "Art Is Moving" program also coincides with the special Saturday service to the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and other activities this coming week.

It’s expected that coach 3005 will be part of the 10 a.m. train on Saturday, and will run three round trips that day. The 10 a.m. train is the first train of the day on Saturday.

The artwork on display comes from artists in every county served by SunRail (Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Osceola), as well as the City of Orlando, and also includes the work of students.

The artists will be featured on www.sunrail.com/artismoving/.

All the window artwork is made of perforated vinyl to allow safe visibility from inside and outside the vehicle at all times.
