One Night Only performance of Audience Choice Award Winner Janine Klein

IMG_0842Janine Klein won a TheDailyCity.com Audience Choice Award (Favorite show in the Pink Venue) at the Orlando Fringe Festival for her show "JANINE KLEIN: Gay Bar Star." She's bringing it back to Orlando for a one-night-only performance Saturday, June 12, 2010, 8pm, at the parliament House's Footlight Theatre. Tickets are ten bucks, go on sale Saturday June 5, and available online.

"GAY BAR STAR is no ordinary Cabaret. With the able assistance of popular Orlando playwright John Ryan, Klein switches up the lyrics of many popular Broadway songs to perform broad parodies which reflect her fictional (yet not so fictional) life as a “Gay Bar Star.” References to her real life appearances at Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Shows and to her real life role as mother to son Sage, as well as many other local references, figure heavily into a show that is not only extremely well sung, but is also downright hysterical in content.

Janine Klein is arguably one of the very best vocalists in Orlando. Her vocal range and belting voice take center stage, but her flair for comedy and acting make this Gay Bar Star a “Diva” with which to contend, as well as a Diva along with which the audience never fails to laugh off its collective ass."

Pianist Christopher Leavy (who's Orlando Fringe Festival production of "Julie Bunny Must Die" was a huge hit) provides onstage piano accompaniment.
