Redlight Redlight | No Live Music

By Ken Storey

On March 20, 2013, we posted a story about a New Beer's Day Celebration at Redlight Redlight. The press release we received, on which we based the post, was from the person putting on the event, not Redlight Redlight. The press release said there'd be live music at the event.
We learned the very same day from Redlight Redlight via twitter, and later that day from the person putting on the event via email, that their location does not allow for live performances.

Wha?
We believe them, and we also have to ask (The City of Orlando)... why?

As a regular guest of Redlight Redlight, I wish the City of Orlando would be more willing to work them. No live music? In a bar?

Maybe we need to do some research on our own and find out exactly why. Perhaps there is a perfectly sound reason.
But Redlight Redlight isn't the only one. Entire districts, like The Milk District, have been hampered by the city's outdated codes that are meant to protect citizens but are now seemingly working against locally owned businesses.

And don't get us started on chickens in your yard and Vegetable gardens in your yard

Are these the things we want our local politicians regulating?
